Chapter 324
Even after everything, surrendering now left a sour taste in Cassandraโs mouth. She inhaled deeply, straightened her posture, and steeled herself for one final attempt to approach Evelyn.
โIโll try one more time,โ she muttered.
But Evelyn wasnโt having any of it.
โEvelyn, please! Just listen to meโโ
Evelyn shoved Cassandra to the ground again.
โEvelyn! Itโs me, Cassandra! Youโre way too drunk right now. Let meโโ
Another failure.
After two disastrous attempts, Cassandra finally admitted defeat. With trembling fingers, she fished out her phone and dialed Ethan.
Cassandra was barely holding it together. Every inch of her body ached, and she didnโt dare get near Evelyn again.
Evelyn, meanwhile, seemed to have endless energy, belting out karaoke at the top of her lungs and occasionally breaking into wild dance moves.
The moment Ethan stepped into the room, Cassandra rushed to him, her face a mix of exhaustion and relief.
โEthan! Thank heavens youโre here!โ she gasped.
Ethanโs gaze landed on Evelyn, who was now standing barefoot on the sofa, singing like she was headlining a concert. His expression shifted, lips twitching as he suppressed a sigh.
โWhat happened?โ he asked, voice low.
Cassandra launched into an explanation, gesturing wildly. โEvelyn got completely wasted. Julian and I tried to take her home, but she was out of control! Every time we got close, she flipped us over like we were nothing! We had no choice but to call you.โ
Ethan arched a brow and waved them off. โIโll handle it. You two can go.โ
Cassandra and Julian didnโt need to be told twice. They bolted from the room, leaving Ethan alone with the chaos.
Ethan approached Evelyn cautiously. โEvelyn, itโs me. Iโm taking you home.โ
Evelyn spun around, narrowing her eyes. โWho the hell do you think you are? Trying to impersonate Ethan? Take this!โ
Before Ethan could react, Evelyn launched into a flying kick. Instinctively, he raised his arm to block the blow.
Evelynโs foot slammed into his forearm with shocking force, sending him stumbling back several steps.
Ethan stared at her, stunned.
In all the years heโd known Evelyn, heโd seen her drunk before. Sheโd been loud, reckless, even obnoxiousโbut never violent.
Yet nowโฆ
That kick had been no joke. His arm still throbbed from the impact.
