Chapter 136
"That's an impressive roll. You're bound to win this round!" someone nearby exclaimed, clearly awed.
Evelyn, however, didnโt even glance at her dice.
With a slow, deliberate motion, she lifted the cup.
Every pair of eyes in the booth snapped toward the dice, the tension so thick it could be cut with a knife.
"Oh my God!"
A ripple of shock spread through the crowd.
Dylanโs expression twisted in disbelief.
Evelyn had rolled a six.
Damn it!
A smug smile curled Evelynโs lips as she raked her fingers through her shoulder-length auburn waves, her eyes gleaming with triumph. "Looks like fortune favors me tonight."
Natalie and Alexander exchanged knowing glances, amusement flickering in their eyes.
From the very beginning, Natalie hadnโt been worried about Evelynโs losing streak.
She knew betterโEvelyn had been playing the long game, deliberately losing to lure Dylan into this high-stakes bet.
Nathan observed the scene unfold, his dark gaze locked onto Evelyn, unreadable yet intense.
A flicker of doubt crossed his mind.
Was that six sheer luck, or was there more to it? Was Evelyn actually skilled at this?
Dylanโs face went rigid the moment Evelyn revealed her roll, his jaw tightening as he stared at the dice in stunned silence.
Without a word, Evelyn reached for the bottle of whiskey and slid it toward Dylan with icy calm. "Mr. Reeves, bottoms up."
The booth plunged into heavy silence.
No one dared to speak, the air thick with tension.
Just the sight of the full bottle made everyone shift uncomfortably.
They all knew downing that much whiskey wouldnโt be easy.
Finally, Serenaโs voice cut through the quiet, laced with false concern. "Mrs. Black, itโs just a game. No need to take it so seriously, right? A whole bottle seemsโฆ excessive, donโt you think?"
Evelyn chuckled softly, her gaze never leaving Dylan. "Mr. Reeves, are you scared to drink, or just unwilling?"
She tilted her head slightly, her smirk turning razor-sharp. "But donโt worryโIโm reasonable. Hereโs an alternative: go downstairs, stand on the stage, and shout three times, โIโm a coward.โ Do that, and you wonโt have to touch this bottle."
At her words, both Dylanโs and Serenaโs faces darkened.
The others exchanged uneasy glances, unsure how to react to such a brutal ultimatum.
Evelynโs demand was simpleโyet utterly ruthless.
