Chapter 103

Adrian Grant was taken aback by Evelyn Hartleyโ€™s blunt refusal. Though irritation flickered in his eyes, he forced a tight-lipped smile and muttered, "Fine."

Nathan Black shot his nephew a sharp, warning glare, his piercing gaze demanding an explanation.

After dinner, Nathan stepped outside for fresh air, Evelyn retreated to her room, and Damian Grantโ€™s family lingered in the living room, enjoying Leonard Grantโ€™s company.

Noticing Adrianโ€™s relentless questions about Evelyn, Damianโ€™s brows furrowed deeply. The moment Leonard excused himself to the restroom, Damian seized Adrianโ€™s arm and dragged him aside. "Why the sudden interest in Evelyn? What game are you playing?"

Adrianโ€™s lips curled into a roguish smirk. "Father, donโ€™t you think Evelyn is absolutely breathtaking now?"

Damianโ€™s expression darkened instantly. His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. "Listen carefullyโ€”you stay away from her. Sheโ€™s Nathanโ€™s wife."

Adrianโ€™s grin only widened, mischief dancing in his eyes. "Exactly. Sheโ€™s Nathanโ€™s wifeโ€”my uncleโ€™s beloved spouse. Thatโ€™s what makes this so thrilling."

He leaned back, crossing his arms with a wicked gleam. "Imagine thisโ€”Evelyn falls madly for me, demands a divorce from Nathan, and swears sheโ€™ll marry no one else. Wouldnโ€™t that be deliciously scandalous?"

For a heartbeat, Damian was speechless at his sonโ€™s audacity. Then his face twisted in fury. "Shut your mouth, you insolent brat! If your grandfather hears even a whisper of this, heโ€™ll make sure you regret it for the rest of your miserable life!"

Adrian merely shrugged, unfazed. "Relax. Weโ€™ll just ensure he never finds out. Some things are best keptโ€ฆ discreet."

Damianโ€™s jaw clenched. "Drop this madness. Now."

Rolling his eyes, Adrian waved him off. "Fine, fine. Message received."

With that, he sauntered back to the living room, leaving Damian seething. Yet, as silence settled, Adrianโ€™s words planted a treacherous seed in Damianโ€™s mind.

A slow, calculating smirk tugged at Damianโ€™s lips before he followed his son inside.

That night, the Grant family remained at the Black estate. A soft knock interrupted Damianโ€™s solitude. He opened the door to find a shadowed figure waiting. With a knowing glance, Damian stepped aside, allowing the man entry before leading him to the balcony.

The night air was crisp as the man bowed respectfully. "Sit," Damian commanded.

"Thank you, sir," the man murmured, taking a seat.

Leaning against the railing, Damianโ€™s gaze turned shrewd. "Tell meโ€”how are things between Nathan and Evelyn these days?"

The man hesitated, caught off guard by the question. After a beat, he cleared his throat. "Not well. They were set to finalize their divorce, but Leonardโ€™s asthma attack delayed it. Still, both seem determined to proceed."

He paused, then added carefully, "Rumor has it Leonard struck a deal with Nathan. For one month, Nathan must comply with all of Leonardโ€™s arrangements regarding Evelyn. If, after that, Nathan still wants the divorce, Leonard wonโ€™t interfere further. Then Nathan will be free to marryโ€ฆ whoever he truly loves."
