Chapter 499
About ten minutes later, Isabella headed to the restroom with a couple of colleagues.
She pushed the door open and saw someone inside. She was about to apologize and step back when a hand suddenly clamped over her mouth and nose.
Before she could struggle, her vision blurred and her consciousness slipped away.
The person who grabbed her was quickly joined by a woman waiting just outside.
They hastily disguised Isabella and supported her out of the restroom. Carefully avoiding NovaTechโs security, they made their way outside.
Just as they were about to push her into a waiting car, their path was abruptly blocked.
At that moment, Alexanderโs phone rang.
After a brief call, he stood up and told the executives beside him, โSomethingโs come up. Weโll continue this another time.โ
Daniel noticed his abrupt departure and quickly followed.
By the time they reached the street, the kidnappers had already been subdued.
Daniel was startled to see Isabella unconscious, but he quickly understood the situation.
What puzzled him wasโwhen had Alexander arranged all this?
The men outside stepped forward respectfully. โMr. Whitmore, weโve apprehended them.โ
Alexander glanced at the unconscious Isabella, walked over, and wordlessly lifted her into his arms.
He carried her straight to the car.
Daniel paused, then hurried after them.
No sooner had Alexander settled Isabella in the back seat than her phone rang from her purse.
The two engineers from NovaTech had grown worried when she didnโt return from the restroom.
After searching and not finding her, they immediately called.
Alexander didnโt answer.
He adjusted Isabella against him, then simply ended the call.
The engineers, now even more concerned, immediately contacted Nathaniel.
Alarmed, Nathaniel dialed Isabellaโs number himself.
This time, Alexander answered.
โIsabella, are youโโ Nathaniel began, but was cut off.
โShe fainted. Iโm taking her back to the hotel,โ Alexander stated flatly.
Nathaniel froze. โAlexander?โ
โMm.โ Then he added, โIโm hanging up now.โ
โYouโโ Nathaniel tried to protest, but the line had already gone dead.
In the front seat, Daniel watched the rearview mirror. Seeing Alexander still holding Isabella, he started to speak, but the privacy divider slowly rose, blocking his view.
Daniel stared in surprise, speechless.
The hotel wasnโt far, but the drive still took about half an hour.
Alexander carried Isabella out.
Daniel noticed her clothes were still neat, though her lipstick was slightly smudged.
It looked like she had been kissedโor perhaps it was just smeared during the struggle. He couldnโt be sure.
Without explanation, Alexander took her straight upstairs. Daniel had no choice but to follow.
